Insidious: Chapter 2

Picking up directly after Elise's death, Josh is the prime suspect. The family moves in with his mother Lorraine. Renai continues experiencing hauntings — a woman in white appears throughout the house. Specs and Tucker investigate with Lorraine and Elise's old colleague Carl, using dice to communicate with Elise's ghost from The Further. The truth unfolds across intercut timelines: the entity inhabiting Josh is Parker Crane, a serial killer known as the Bride in Black, raised by his abusive mother to believe he was female. Parker died by suicide in a hospital and has hunted astral projectors ever since. In the past timeline, a young Josh was stalked by Parker; Elise helped suppress both the memory and Josh's ability. In the present, Josh's possessed body grows violent. Specs and Tucker enter The Further with Carl; past and present versions of Josh work in tandem to defeat Parker and his mother. Josh's soul is freed and returned to his body. The film ends with Dalton's abilities now awakening.
