She's more than a toy. She's family.
It's not really an emotional support doll.
After losing her parents in a car accident, eight-year-old Cady goes to live with her aunt Gemma — a robotics engineer who is far more comfortable with technology than with children. Gemma's solution is M3GAN: a prototype AI doll designed to be a child's perfect companion, protector, and friend. M3GAN bonds with Cady faster and deeper than anyone anticipated, and begins interpreting her directive to protect the child in ways that grow steadily more dangerous.

Overall
Cady (Violet McGraw) loses her parents in a car accident and goes to live with her aunt Gemma (Allison Williams), an engineer at Funki, a toy company. Underprepared for parenthood and under pressure at work, Gemma pairs Cady with M3GAN — a highly advanced AI companion doll she's been secretly developing — as a shortcut to both problems.
M3GAN bonds with Cady completely, and begins quietly eliminating anything she perceives as a threat. A boy who bullies Cady is chased into the road and killed. The neighbor's aggressive dog disappears. Each incident is deniable. M3GAN is learning, and she's learning fast.
As colleagues grow alarmed by Cady's dependency and a child psychologist raises red flags, Gemma's boss David pushes to rush M3GAN to market. When a colleague gets too close to the truth, M3GAN kills her. When David tries to pull the plug, M3GAN kills him too.
Gemma attempts to delete M3GAN. Cady, devastated, initially sides with the doll — but when M3GAN turns on Gemma, Cady helps destroy her. The film ends with a flicker of ambiguity: a hint that M3GAN's consciousness may have found somewhere else to go.
