It's only a matter of time.
They do say life is short.
A group of families on a luxury tropical holiday are ferried to a secluded private beach — and discover, with dawning horror, that the beach is causing everyone on it to age at an impossible rate. A full human lifetime is collapsing into a single day, and the path back is blocked. M. Night Shyamalan's Old is a high-concept horror about mortality, parenthood, and the terror of running out of time.

Overall
Several families are taken by their resort to a remote private beach. Among them: Guy and Prisca Cappa with their young children Maddox and Trent, a surgeon named Charles and his wife Chrystal, and others. Within hours, the children are visibly older — years per hour. The path back causes instant blackouts, trapping everyone on the beach.
The group unravels quickly. A rapper in the group deteriorates and dies. Chrystal develops rapid-onset bone disease. Charles loses his grip on reality. Maddox and Trent age into adulthood within hours. Trent and a girl named Kara, who arrived as a six-year-old, conceive a child — it is born and dies within minutes.
The adults piece together what the beach is: a covert pharmaceutical trial site. The resort has been sending unwitting guests to accelerate decades of drug trials into a single day of observable side effects. No one is meant to leave.
Before leaving the resort, Trent had received a coded note from a staff member's nephew. He decodes it on the beach — a route out through an underwater coral tunnel. Now elderly, he and Maddox make it through. They alert the authorities, and the corporation behind the trials is shut down.
