Invasion of the Body Snatchers(1956)

I watched this for the first time in 2026, 70 years after release which is wild to think about. Even wilder is how well it has stood the test of time. Things that stood out to me: acting, the lead especially. Everyone plays their part so well. Kevin McCarthy (RIP, ripe age of 96), anchors the film with his charismatic and pragmatic presence; a man of science and logic dealing with a truly impossible situation. The portrayal of “imposter paranoia” is extremely effective, and it reminded me of later classics like “The Thing”, and “The Faculty” and obviously the later remake of the same name. Directly, or indirectly this movie stands as a blueprint for that type of horror. An obvious classic, and I’m glad to have watched it.
