During the COVID-19 lockdown, six friends join a Zoom call hosted by medium Seylan for a séance. Haley invents a fictional spirit named Jack as a joke, not knowing that naming a spirit — real or fabricated — creates an opening. The séance begins to go wrong: Jemma sees a dark figure behind another friend's shoulder. The medium cuts the session short but the line stays open. One by one the friends encounter presences in their homes: Emma is pulled to the ceiling by her neck, Jemma's face is slammed repeatedly into her desk, Radina's boyfriend is attacked in the hallway. Haley, responsible for the invitation, is taken last — dragged from frame and killed. Gemma attempts a counter-ritual and is pulled off-screen mid-prayer. The call drops. A post-credits shot shows the original séance invitation sitting unopened in Seylan's email spam folder.
