What it is about
The distributor's synopsis: "In the back of a butcher shop, a little girl watches terrifying tales on a screen that must be fed. As its appetite grows, her father must find increasingly gruesome ways to keep the show going."
The butcher shop is the setting of the frame story, a segment called "Sate the Screen", which links the 13 short films. According to Bloody Disgusting, the shorts come from filmmakers in the US, Canada, Japan, Australia, Austria and the Netherlands.
How the shorts were chosen
Dead Meat announced the contest in mid-July 2026. Submissions ran from July 25 to August 24, with a $50 entry fee. Shorts had to run between 5 and 10 minutes and be completed on or after January 1, 2024.
The channel received 557 submissions. Each was watched by at least two people on a panel, which narrowed them to 30 finalists. Fans voted on the finalists from September 3 to September 10. Janisse said the votes would be used as guidance and the final choice was Dead Meat's. Thirteen shorts made the film.
Janisse said in July that each selected filmmaker would receive $2,500 and the grand prize winner $25,000. The grand prize goes to the short that audiences at the October 12 screenings vote for, by scanning a QR code.
Is it scary?
It has no Watch Darkly score yet.
No reviews have been published as of October 8, 2026. It has no MPA rating, so there is no rating descriptor. The official trailer came out on Dead Meat's channel on September 24.
Its Fear, Gore, Atmosphere and Intensity scores will go on the film page once it has been watched.
