Don't break her heart
She just wanted a date to the prom. He said no. That was his first mistake.
When Brent turns down his classmate Lola's invitation to the school dance, she and her father make other arrangements. What follows is a private prom held in the Stone farmhouse — pink decorations, a tiara, and a boy strapped to a chair — where Lola intends to have exactly the night she had planned. The Loved Ones is a relentlessly brutal Australian horror film wrapped in the aesthetic of a teen romance.

Overall
Brent Mitchell is a teenager still reeling from a car accident he caused that killed his father. When his shy classmate Lola Stone shyly asks him to the school dance, he turns her down — he's going with his girlfriend. It's a small, ordinary rejection. Lola does not take it well.
Brent is abducted on the night of the dance and wakes up tied to a chair in the Stone family farmhouse, dressed in a tuxedo. Lola, now in a pink prom dress and tiara, has arranged a full private dance — streamers, a disco ball, her father as the approving audience. The warmth of the setup evaporates quickly. When Brent doesn't perform as expected, the torture begins: a power drill to the skull, boiling water poured into wounds, nails through feet.
As the night deteriorates, Brent discovers the farmhouse has a history. A trapdoor in the floor conceals a pit of lobotomized, feral previous victims — boys who didn't work out. Among them, barely recognizable, is his own father, who didn't die in the crash after all. The Stone family has been doing this for years.
Brent escapes the chair, fights through the farmhouse, and kills both Lola and her father before dragging himself out. A parallel storyline — Brent's friend Mia attending the actual school dance with a classmate — converges at the end, as Mia finds Brent in the road. He survives. The farmhouse and its secrets do not.
