They look just like us.
A boarded-up house. A frightened father. A little girl who has never seen the world and may be the most dangerous thing in it.
Freaks unfolds through the eyes of a young girl who has never been allowed to leave her boarded-up house, raised by a father who insists the outside world will kill them both. It is a slow reveal of a world where people with extraordinary abilities are hunted as dangerous outsiders — and Chloe may be the most dangerous of all. Measured, eerie, and emotionally grounded, it earns its twists.

Overall
Chloe has lived her entire young life inside a boarded-up house, raised by her terrified, obsessive father who insists that the outside world will destroy them. She's told her mother is dead. She's told she is normal. Neither is true.
A mysterious old man in an ice cream truck lingers outside the house, and Chloe eventually finds a way to meet him. He calls himself Mr. Snowcone and seems to know things about her family, hinting at a larger world of people like them — "Abnormals" with extraordinary abilities who are being systematically hunted and imprisoned by a government task force. Chloe's father fights to keep her contained, knowing what she is capable of.
As Chloe's abilities emerge — time manipulation, possession, reality distortion — the film's perspective shifts and expands. Her mother is not dead; she is a prisoner of the government, held because of what she can do. Chloe ultimately uses her powers to reach her mother, forcing a confrontation between the family and the agents hunting them. The film ends in devastation and hard-won reunion, with Chloe more fully herself and the world now aware of exactly what she is.
