The ultimate experience in grueling terror.
Five friends. A cabin. The Necronomicon. Sam Raimi launched a career and ruined camping for a generation.
Five friends drive to a remote Tennessee cabin for the weekend. In the cellar they find a book of the dead and a tape recording of passages read aloud. They play it. They should not have done that.

Ash Williams drives to a remote cabin in the Tennessee woods with his girlfriend Linda, his sister Cheryl, and their friends Scott and Shelly. In the cellar they discover the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis — the Book of the Dead — and a reel-to-reel tape recording of a professor reciting passages from it. The recordings awaken ancient evil spirits in the surrounding forest. Cheryl is attacked and possessed in the woods. The possession spreads: Shelly turns first among the cabin group, then Linda. Each becomes a Deadite — superhuman, sadistic, and barely contained by the walls. Scott is mortally wounded trying to escape and returns as a Deadite before dying a second time. Ash is the last to remain himself. He must destroy his possessed friends: Linda is decapitated and dismembered; Cheryl is stabbed repeatedly. As dawn approaches Ash throws the Necronomicon into the fireplace. The evil spirits outside begin to rapidly decompose and tear apart in accelerated decay, shrieking as they dissolve. Ash staggers into the daylight — and an unseen force rushes toward him from the treeline.
